New Phone

I think I really need to buy a new phone. My current phone’s screen has a crack and sometimes I’m having a hard time looking at the text messages. I told myself that if in case I’ll be replacing my phone, it should be the latest iPhone. My problem is that I don’t think I can afford to buy a new phone now. :(

At this point, I think it’s impractical for me to buy a new phone because I’ll be paying my daughter’s tuition fee and I also need to pay all other bills. I just hope I’ll be able to buy one soon! :)

Private Getaway

Whenever my high school batchmates decide to have a get-together, it’s always in the house of one of our friends. First, because it’s cheaper than having it in a bar or restaurant, and second, his house is very spacious and could easily accommodate us all. His lot is huge that he even has a sunroom in his yard. He says it’s his own private getaway when he needs to escape the chaos of the main house. In his line of work, I wouldn’t blame him.

Fare Increase

The jeepney fare increased by P0.50 last week, so the minimum fare will be P8.50 already. I’m not really affected by this because I take the shuttle daily to and from work and I don’t know what regulation the shuttle services follow. My concern is that when I was in the shuttle yesterday morning, the barker said they increased also and will be collecting P60 from the previous fare of P55. That’s a P5 increase! I just find it unfair for the jeepneys because with them, they need to go on strike or ask permission or approval from different branches of government just for them to get the 50 cents increase but for the shuttle service, they just announce it to the passengers. I don’t know who approves of their license and their increase that makes it easy for them to do just that. And we’re talking of a P5.00 increase! I just hope someone will take a look into it. It’s not only unfair for the jeepney operators but to us passengers as well.

Twice The Fun

I just saw a friend’s status in facebook that he had twins! That’s surely a bundle of joy for the couple. And to think that the twins are their first children. That’s going to be twice the fun for them. I’d bet they already have their hands on a Mountain Buggy Duet so they can bring the kids along with no hassle of getting separate strollers.

Digital Storage

In my line of work, if there’s one thing we always need, it’s storage devices. Just earlier today, we needed to transfer a huge chunk of data from one place to another without a network. So we had to copy gigabytes of data from one pc to another by using portable hard drives. That did remind me that I had to unload files from my trusty old drive so I can copy some work files.

Starbucks

As mentioned in my other blog, we went to SM to buy clothes and shoes for the kids. Lance requested for a cold coffee in Starbucks so we went there to buy. I jokingly asked the bar tender if they give out something just in case there’s someone celebrating a birthday. They said unfortunately they don’t give out anything. But it was nice of them to write this on the cup they gave us. The other bartender thought that it was Lance’s birthday. :)

Organizing Needed

I was rummaging through my stuff last weekend and thought that I would need a storage cabinet. Right now, our tools are scattered all around the house. Some are in a bag underneath the sink along with our cleaning materials, some are in the store room, not to mention the ones in the cabinet. Not exactly organized, to say the least.

Renewing My Driver's License

I renewed my driver’s license at Robinsons in the morning of my birthday. I’m really thankful that the mall right across our street has LTO already so it’s easier. I was there by 9am and I was able to get my license before 12noon. It could have been faster if I did not request for a change in my address but still, 3 hours is short enough especially since the place is air conditioned and they have seats naman for waiting area compared to the LTO before and also if I compared it to getting and NBI in the same mall.

Anyway, if you plan to renew your license here are the steps:

  1. Go to LTO window 1 to get the form.
  2. Fill out the form and proceed to the cashier to pay P400.00 for medical and drug test.
  3. Proceed to medical where they will check your height, weight and BP.
  4. Proceed to drug testing section. Submit your form then collect urine and submit to the lab. Wait for your name to be called for picture taking and finger scanning. Then wait again for your name to be called for the results. All these will take around 30-45 minutes only.
  5. Go back to medical for eye check up.
  6. Go back to window 1 of LTO and submit all your documents (application form, result of medical and drug test, old driver’s license).
  7. Wait for your name to be called for photo and signature.
  8. Wait again for your name to be called to pay for the license. You will pay 418.00 at window 3 - cashier. In my case I paid additional P100.00 for change of address. It also took some time because they said it needs approval pa and logging to the system which sometimes causes the delay. But if you don’t have anything to be changed, this will be short lang.
  9. Wait for your name to be called for release of license. This is at window 4.

It really is a short process and I’m glad the government is improving their services little by little.

Mock Run

We are once again having a mock run this week and will continue these succeeding weekends to ensure that the new system will be running smoothly by the time of its launch 2-3 months from now. The mock run may sound tiring since we go to work on weekends but for someone like me who hasn’t earned leave credits yet; it is advantageous since I can offset the days I worked on weekends whenever I need to go on leave. Anyway, we hope that everything will be ok in the coming mock. :)
