The Holidays

The holidays are just right around the corner. That means the Christmas vacation is coming. It looks like we’ll be staying home for the holidays. No grand trips, no bookings at cheap hotels in miami; just stay home and spend time with the family. Since the nannies’ would be taking a vacation, there’d be no one else but us to take care of the kids and manage the house. With the way the kids are now, I’m sure we’ll have our hands full.

Slacker

Okay, don’t tell anybody, but I am so sleepy here at work. It’s a slow day – and the internet too, nothing much to do, the boss is out. I was able to do some work earlier though. If I did it all in one go, that would amount to maybe 5 minutes of my time here at work. Received a call from a customer, updated some files, receive another call from someone looking for health insurance leads, call a customer to make an appointment for tomorrow, that’s about it I guess. Now it’s time to slack off, watch a movie or two, take a power nap, and just wait until six. Looks like I still have a lot to do. Better get on with it.

Haggard

That’s what my friends told me the last time I saw them. I was so busy with work for the past few weeks that I had sleepless nights that made me look old and haggard. My friends were telling me to look for the best wrinkle treatment that I can get to make me look like my age. Haayy… I really hope all the stress that this project is giving me will pay off.

Starbucks Planner

Maver is giving away a starbucks planner again. She just wants us to answer one question, and here it is:
"If you were a Starbucks drink, what would you be and why?"
I really don't go to starbucks that often and whenever I go there, my usual order is mocha frap hehe! Why? I don't know, I just love the taste and it really calms me down whenever I drink one. hehe!

There goes my entry. If you want to win a planner to, go visit maver's site and place your entries. Good luck to us! :)

Vacation

Our passport will be expiring soon so Paul and I are planning to renew it before the year ends coz that’s when most people are busy with Christmas and we’re hoping that DFA will be able to assist us faster. We also plan to get a passport for Hannah since Lance has one already. If we have passports already, we hope to have a family vacation but we still don’t have a destination yet hehe! We plan to live like those of myrtle beach condo rentals so that our stay will be more fun. I hope our vacation plans will push thru but for now, we need to have our passports renewed first. :)

Exchange Gift

Last Friday, we had our General Assembly in the office and a small Christmas party. That’s where we also had our exchange gift. Before we gave out our gifts to our babies” the human resources asked us to write down our wishlist so that our “mommies” won’t have a hard time looking for a gift to us. At that time, I plan to write Personalized Jewelry in my wishlist but I know it’s out of the budget so I asked for a gadget organizer but unfortunately it’s out of stock. My mommy then gave me a card reader which I appreciate so much because at least I won’t have to bring several cables to transfer tons of pictures. Thank you so much “mommy”!

Holiday

It’s holiday today in my part of the world. We are celebrating the birth of one of heroes Andres Bonifacio. But I’ll be going to work today to prepare for our audit on Wednesday. I still have so many things to do and I’m afraid that if I won’t go to work today, I won’t be able to finish it in time for the audit. I also asked my staff to go to work to help me finish the documents. In the mean time, let me share with you a picture of Lance playing with his cousins when we were in Batangas. I’ll post more updates as soon as I’m done with the audit. :)

Catching Up With Friends

I have several dinners scheduled this December to meet my friends. This will also serve as our Christmas party already. I have dinner with officemates, then HS and College friends. I was chatting with one of my HS friends and was asking him when will he be back from his orlando vacations so that he can join us in the dinner. He said he’ll be here by 2nd week of December so we scheduled our dinner on that weekend. My Saturdays from 1st week to 3rd week of December are booked already for dinners. I’m sure I will gain weight again this coming holidays. I better hit the gym again on January.

Trip To Batangas

Last Saturday, me and my family went to Batangas with my sister for my uncle’s death anniversary. Almost all of my cousins went there too. We decided to leave early in the morning because we expect there will be heavy traffic due to the long weekend. I woke up at 12 midnight to prepare our things and also to check whatever clothes I can give to my relatives staying in the province. I was able to finish preparing by 1:30 and decided not to sleep anymore because we will wake up at 3am since we’re planning to leave the house at 4am. Because I was not able to sleep much that night, people noticed the dark circles under eyes and even my aunt advised me what to put on it to lessen the darkness. The kids had so much fun playing on the grounds, and even Hannah played with them too. We left Batangas at 6:30pm and got home by 10. It was one fun-filled day. :)

Mr. Fix-It

Thanks to my father-in-law, he was able to fix whatever needed fixing inside the house. These include the leaking sinks, the flushing mechanism on one of the toilets, the rack for the Christmas village, as well as some electrical and lighting fixtures. It’s good he brought a lot of tools on his way home. He did such a great job, we’re thinking of giving more things to work on like maybe install hand dryers and bidets.

Movie Night

Toni, her sister, her cousin and I watched New Moon last Wednesday. The cinema was packed, considering that it was a weeknight. If there’s one scene that I will not forget was that when Jacob took off his shirt for the first time in the movie – no, not because my jaw dropped to the floor and I had to wipe the drool dripping from the corner of my mouth, no I’m not like that - but because you could hear all the girls in the cinema draw in one collective gasp. Really. Of course this was expected as Taylor Lautner said in his interviews prior to the release of the film was that he had to get really buffed for the movie. I read he did it the hard way to build up all those muscles, no anabolic steroids or hgh or whatever. You’ve got to hand it to the guy; he’s committed to his craft. To tell you the truth I’m not a fan of the franchise, but I don’t hate it either. It is an entertaining movie though, and I think it’s paving the way to a new genre of film and literature – fantasy romance. This second installment pretty much picked up where the last one ended, so you’d need to watch the first movie to understand what’s happening. But I’m sure you already have.

Thanksiving Holiday

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are here. Okay so maybe we really don’t have that in this part of town – though a huge retailer is starting to pick it up – but it sure would be great. If we had that here, one of the first things I’ll surely buy is a Samsung HDTV. I’ve seen Samsung panels up close as we used them for the displays in one of my previous companies; I have a lot of respect for it. So if I see a huge discount on these things, I’d get me one in a jiffy.

Christmas Is Here!

Here in our part of the world, Christmas season always comes early. As early as September, malls and stores would start displaying artificial christmas trees and decorations on their storefront, as well as play Christmas carols and songs on their PA system. Other signs are bazaars sprouting out from everywhere selling anything and everything, not to mention the sale that the malls have every week. I did a little shopping already when my sis asked me to go with her to the richwell sale. The items are not as good as last year but it still way cheaper when you buy to the malls and since I’m there already, I was able to buy a few gifts for inaanaks. I’m still on the lookout for sales since I’m not yet done shopping. This is the only time that Paul doesn’t complain when I buy things. Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year! :)

New Moon

Everybody’s been raving how nice this movie is and it’s only on 3rd day of showing. My online friends watched this on its first day and they said that this is really worth seeing and it got me more excited. Sadly, I still don’t know when I will be able to watch the movie. We were out of town for the past 3 days for our annual business planning and I left tons of work behind that I need to finish before my audit on December 2. My sister’s been bugging me to watch it this week and I really hope I’ll find the time to watch it with her, Paul and my cousin. Wish me luck!

Trying To Save More

I was giving Lance a bath when he poured water on a corner of the bathing area and I noticed some loose tiles there. Fortunately, the tiles just came loose and not broken so there’s no jagged edges. Nevertheless, we’re going to get that fixed, as well as add some glass tiles to the bathroom wall to let more natural light in. I hope the savings brought about by the decrease in the use of lights in the bathroom would pay for the repairs we’re planning.

Full Service

One of the things I’ve read recently on foreign news is about the healthcare program in the US. It’s a big issue since we’re talking about the welfare of the citizen’s here. I may not be affected here but my in-laws are so it is somewhat of importance to me. Here in our country, people go overseas to get treatment not available locally. In the US however, people might go overseas to have treatment that costs less. For orthopedic procedures like hip replacement and spine surgery Mexico hospitals are offering special promo packages which include all medical, surgical and pre-op test fees plus all ground transportation between airport, hotel and hospital. Sounds like hotel treatment in a hospital.

Re-servicing?

My sister-in-law went to Batangas to drop of her dad and aunts to attend to some family matters. It’s the second time for the car to make a trip to Batangas since it was fixed from the effects of the recent floods. The car isn’t completely alright as some electrical components aren’t really working. The SIL is thinking about bringing it back to the garage – which happen to offer motorhome towing; something you don’t see everyday - to have everything working right. Maybe in the next couple of weeks. We all hope the repairs don’t take very long.

Sunday Routine

It's another Sunday so that means another trip to the grocery. The whole family went on this particular trip so both Lance and Hannah was in the shopping cart with the stuff we bought. There weren’t a lot of people at the store, maybe because it just recently reopened due to an unscheduled renovation brought about by recent events. Thanks also to the barcode scanner at the counter, we were in and out of there in no time. Since the kids seem to like riding in the cart, it looks like everyone will be coming again on our next trip to the grocery.

Go Mobile

We have been contemplating for the longest time to buy a netbook. The development of netbooks is just so timely. Laptops are a little too much to scrimp and save for in these tough times. Today’s netbooks cost about half as much as regular laptops. Yes laptops pack more power – as well as weight and cash – but if all you need is a machine for mobile computing, netbooks are definitely worth looking into.
