Our First Christmas

Last Christmas was a very special one for us coz it was the first time we spent Christmas as husband and wife. Paul almost failed to come home because airlines are fully booked due to the holidays. Thank God PAL has still available flights on the 24th kaya Paul was able to come home.

He arrived lunchtime and I didn’t let him rest yet instead I dragged him to the mall for last minute shopping. Then we went home to wrap the gifts we bought and left again to have the noche buena at my uncle’s house.

My family was there and the rest of my mom’s relatives. Sarap ng food and Paul was happy because he’s not eating Chinese food anymore! Hehehe! Ang saya!

Then come Christmas day, we just went to mass with my sister and spent the day at home. It was simple but very special! :)

Adtel Christmas Party

Our company had our Christmas party last December 15 at Ugong Pasig. The theme was “Feeling Sikat! Lights Camera Action”. Employees were asked to dress up like their favorite movie character and we were surprised coz most of the employees really participated. Kakatuwa! Here are our pics:

The Week That Was

I had a very busy week since the start of December. Spent late nights at the office for the 8th ISO Surveillance Audit. We had our audit last Dec. 7 and fortunately, we had zero non-conformities. That was the first time in 4 yrs. I was really happy with the results. The long hours of work and overtime on weekends paid off. Thank God!

After the surveillance audit, we started preparing naman for the Christmas party. Our theme was “Feeling Sikat, Lights Camera Action!” Employees were asked to dress as their favorite movie character or if not, they won’t be included in the major items for raffle. My friends and I were part of the committee and we really had fun preparing it. It’s quite tiring but it was fun. We went to the mall buying items for raffle and some other items for the decors and games. It was really fun coz we were able to solicit some money and was able to buy items for all employees.

I was also asked to host the party together with my friend Allan. Not only that, we had a committee presentation of the dance from PBB. I was asked to choreograph the dance (which is a kinda difficult coz I don’t watch PBB). We just bought cds so that we can watch how they move.

We had the party last December 15 and it sure was a success. Lots of people congratulated the committee and we can see from the attendees that they really had fun. Even our dance presentation was a big hit! Hehe! I’ll post some pictures next time.

The most important news I got from last week was that Paul would be able to come home. We were not sure before if he can come home because all flights of China Air were fully booked. Paul will be using sana his free mileage from his trips but China Air told him that his confirmed flight is January 1 and he is waitlisted from Dec. 20 onwards. When Paul felt na he won’t be able to get a confirmed seat, he decided to call PAL and thank God, they still have seats for their flight before Christmas. Paul will be arriving on Dec. 24. Yipee!!! There’s nothing more I can ask for this Christmas. He will be staying here till the first week of January. I know this Christmas will be special for this is our first Christmas together. Thank God! :)

Paul and Toni’s Favorite Foods

I saw this topic on peachy’s blog and I thought, hey why not make one for us too. Thanks peachy for the idea.

Listed below are our favorite foods, fast foods and restaurants from the cheapest to those we consider expensive ones. Happy reading.

Let me start with the cheapest:

1. Street foods

2. Fast food (eto yung kapag gutom kami na nagtitipid, yung tipong less than 100 per person)
* McDonalds – cheeseburger meal with large fries and float
* Jollibee – spaghetti with chickenjoy
* Chowking – toni, sweet and sour pork; paul, braised beef (and each time we order may kasamang siomai and kangkong with bagoong)
* KFC – toni, bbq funshots, asian salad, chicken fillet and brownies; paul, 2pcs chicken, bbq chicken burger
* Wendy’s – bacon cheeseburger combo (same kami ng order, at minsan sinasamahan ng frosty)

3. Restaurants (di ko alam kung tama qualification ko, pero eto yung more than P100 per person pero less P500 sa total bill)
* Dencio’s – favorite namin ni paul ang sisig dito with matching garlic rice and coke! Sarap!
* Sbarro – Baked Ziti with white sauce and additional parmesan cheese, favorite din namin yung bread nila
* Shakeys – bunch of lunch. Hehehe!
* Pancake House - toni, pork vienna; paul, pan-fried chicken

4. These are the ones we consider medyo mahal
* California Pizza Kitchen – we love their fettuccine with garlic cream sauce and shrimp pati na din yung Original BBQ Chicken Pizza
* Bubba Gump – Shrimp Shack Pasta, Bourbon Street Mahimahi and Chocolate chip cookie sundae
* Superbowl of China – Yang chow rice, crispy lemon chicken, beef broccoli, steamed garlic fish…
* Don Henrico’s – Baked Ziti, Buffalo Wings, Pesto
* Sentro 1771 – crunchy chicken, sweet & sour shrimps and bottomless S&G (sago’t gulaman)

These are just some of the food we love to eat. There are surely more out there that we haven't tried. If you think of something that we should try, please tell us about it. :)

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

At last! I was able to watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last night. Hirap ng wala si Paul, kelangan ko pang maghanap ng kasama. Thanks to my good friend Tristan who went with me even if he saw the movie already.

The movie was great, although medyo bitin. There are some stories mentioned in the book that was not in the movie (well of course, you can’t expect naman na they will put everything in the movie eh). Tapos I think if you haven’t read the book yet, you’ll have a little difficulty understanding the movie. Pero ok lang, basta for me, I enjoyed watching the movie and I intend to watch it again. :D

Aldus' First Baseball Game

My nephew had his first baseball game at the ateneo field last Sunday. We’re all very excited to see him play. Syempre lahat kami present. My brother, my sis-in-law, my sister and me. It was my first time to watch a baseball game for the kids. Mas maliit yung diamond nila and they only have 6 innings. They look really cute in their uniforms. While I was watching their warm up, I got really amazed coz ang layo na nila mag throw. Grabe! Feeling ko, if I try to throw the ball, di aabot don sa same distance pag nag throw sila. Kakatuwa talaga! My nephew’s team did not win the game but just the same we’re so happy for him. Super excited siya before the game and he gave his best. First game pa lang naman so ok lang. I'm so proud of him. More games to watch pa and I'm sure next time they'll win na!

Updates

It’s been almost a month since I last updated this blog. Dami happenings during the month of October. Some are worth remembering while others I would rather forget.

Update muna on my application sa TECO. Paul and I decided not to pursue with the application for resident visa anymore. This is because sweet (who’s also a
w@wie has a husband working in Taiwan). She’s also processing her application for visa and the lady at TECO told her to apply na lang for visitor’s visa because her husband’s contract is due on May 2006. Paul’s contract will end on May also so for sure we will receive the same reason aside from our problem with our marriage contract kaya we decided na lang na I’ll apply na lang for visitor’s visa. I went to TECO yesterday to apply for a multiple entry para I can visit Paul whenever I want without the hassle of applying again and again for a visa. Unfortunately, the girl from TECO told me to apply for single entry na lang because Paul’s contract nga will expire next year. Gusto ko sana sabihin don sa girl na what if gusto ko siya visit every now and then before his contract expires kaya lang baka lalo akong di bigyan kaya quiet na lang ako. I will get my passport on Thursday. Sana lang matagal yung validity nung visa na ibibigay nila.

Paul went home last Oct. 26. I was so happy upon seeing him. What more is that he stayed here for 2 weeks. I was on leave then kaya we get to spend more time with each other. As in 24/7. Aliw talaga! I even learned how to play wrestling sa PS2. I’m not really fond of computer games coz it irritates my eyes pero with this one, deadma. Paul and I get to sleep at 2am because of wrestling. Ang saya! We even decided on buying playstation when we’re together na. We also had dinner at Mi Piace at The Manila Peninsula Hotel. Di pa kasi kami nag date ni Paul ng totoo eh kaya we decided to eat there. Sarap ng food nila and ok yung service. Expensive din but good thing we’re Privilege card holders kaya we get 50% off. Sulit na!!! Paul left Nov. 7 and even if it’s still painful, konting tears na lang. I don’t know if it’s because we’re used to being apart from each other (huwag naman sana) or maybe because we really get to spend so much time on his trip here. Aside from that he’s coming home again on December for his Christmas break. When we parted ways nga, we were saying na we’ll see each other in 6 weeks. That soon na! I can’t wait!

When I reported for work after vacation, doon na sa new office namin in Kalayaan Ave. It’s better than our previous office, more spacious but more scary coz they said that there is a ghost in the office. Worse is that someone said that the previous tenant was killed inside the building. Ngiii!!! Four of my officemates already experienced weird happenings here in the office. Luckily I haven’t sensed anything weird yet and hopefully I won't.

Right now, I’m quite busy with work because our ISO audit will be next month. I need to conduct audits, review procedures and all that stuff to make sure that our company still complies with the standard or else, by Christmas baka unemployed na ko! hehehe!

That’s about it! Meeting muna ko :)

Sari-saring Kwento

I don’t have any update yet on TECO. As of today, we’re still thinking of what to do to convince them that our license is valid. For now, I’ll update you with what I’ve been doing lately.

First, my friends and I went to sound stage in Cainta to watch a show by Bamboo. We really had a great time watching them. At first, their front act bands were not really good, as in you’ll get bored listening to them but as soon as Bamboo played, waiting for them and watching those front act bands paid off. Galing talaga! Bamboo played with high energy. As in madadala ka sa performance nila! I really enjoyed watching them that night and I’m looking forward to watching their next show.

Second kwento, we have a new office. It’s located at Kalayaan, Quezon City. We haven’t transferred yet because they’re not done yet with the cabling for LAN, phone lines and internet. After that, we can transfer na. It will be our 5th transfer. We used to work at Benpres office in ortigas. My first was at the 3rd floor then we transferred to 5th floor, then to 2nd floor. Then we moved to Pajo (here in QC) then when the cabling for the new office is done, we’ll transfer there naman. That will be my 5th transfer in my 6 yrs here in the company. Here are some pics during the blessing. We will transfer daw as soon as they’re done with the cabling.

Last kwento, the Lopez Group of Companies held an activity last Oct. 8 for Knowledge Channel. We walked from Luneta to Cuneta Astrodome (actually, I did not walk with them as much as I want to. I was assigned to Cuneta Astrodome to ensure that our company will have an area and there will be seats available when they get to Cuneta for the program). I just waited for them to arrive. Medyo boring coz I can see them lang sa tv and it looked like they’re having fun. After the program by Knowledge Channel, we stayed for the wowowee show. 2 employees per company will be playing “pera o bayong” and if they win 1M, they will give it to the partner school. The employee naman will get a showcase. Sayang, our two representatives made it to the finals. There were three of them left but unfortunately, the other contestant won. Pero ok lang, at least they get to play and we had fun watching them. At first, I can’t relate to the show coz as I’ve mentioned before I’m a certified Kapuso. As in, I don’t watch shows in channel 2. After watching wowowee, makakanta ko na yata yung jingle nila! It was fun and they really give out money to contestants pero di pa din maaalis yung pagka-kapuso ko! Loyal to! Hehehe!

lakad mo1

After that, some of us went to Manila Zoo since it’s near Cuneta. Ganon pa din yung Manila Zoo, wala na nga lang yung giraffe. Namatay na siguro! Hehehe! It was the same Manila Zoo I’ve seen in my grade school days. Wala pa din pinagbago, but just the same, it was fun pa din kasi officemates naman kasama ko.

TECO Update

Don’t know how to start this. It leads me to tears whenever I think of what transpired on my visit to TECO last Friday. (Read na lang my last post about my problem.)

Last Thursday, I finally got a copy of our application for marriage license and our actual marriage license. It took me awhile coz I still need to get the approval from the parish priest of Malate. So finally, I got the copy last Thursday and went to TECO Friday morning. After submitting the docs, the lady still told me that they can’t issue me an authenticated marriage contract and in effect a resident visa because of the same reason. That Paul was not present when we applied for the marriage license. I explained to the girl that we asked permission from the city hall if it’s ok if I’ll be the one to pass the application and the city hall allowed us. So it’s not our fault anymore kasi if city hall naman did not allow us, I’ll ask Paul to come home eh. But still, the girl won’t give in. Kaya I asked her what should I do. She told me na they can always grant me a visitor’s visa but not a resident visa. Feeling ko tuloy, ano to, pakunswelo? Haayyy…. Don’t know what to do anymore. One option is to get endorsement from city hall (na sana magbigay sila and sana I-accept na ng TECO, and the other option is for me to find a job there para I can get a resident visa on my own and not be dependent on Paul).

Please continue praying for us. Ang hirap eh…. Thanks po!

Haayyyy……

I’m currently processing my documents for Taiwan so that I can be with Paul na. I was asked by TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office) to submit so many documents so that I can get a visa. I need to get an authenticated marriage contract from their office but before that I first need to have the NSO marriage contract authenticated by malacañang and dfa. Whew! So many authentications….

Finally, I was able to submit the NSO marriage contract authenticated by malacañang and dfa last Friday. The girl from the counter told me to come back the following Friday to get the authenticated marriage contract. I was super happy then coz I’m a few steps away from being with Paul. Come afternoon, someone from TECO texted me and asked me to submit our application for marriage license. I didn’t understand at first what she was talking about kaya I called her and asked. She was questioning our marriage contract. She was asking me why we were issued a marriage license when in fact Paul wasn’t here at that time. According to her, the family code here in the Phils requires both parties to be present when submitting the application for marriage license. I then explained to her that last February when Paul was here, we asked the civil registry of QC hall to allow us to submit even if only one of us is present. We will comply with all the requirements but we can’t pass it yet because of the 120 days requirement from the church (your marriage license should be valid within 120 days prior to the date of your wedding). We explained to the person from the city hall that Paul is working abroad and that we can’t pass it together, and that we can’t pass it yet on February because of the 120 days nga. We told him na we will pass it na lang on April but it will just be me coz Paul will be back in Taiwan by then. And thank God the person from the city hall approved of it. So we got our license na and got married last June.

The problem now naman is that the girl from TECO nga was asking about it. She’s then asking me to get a certified true copy of our application for a marriage license from QC hall. I called city hall this morning but they said that I should get the copy we submitted from the church. Haayyy…. Habang process na naman. Tomorrow I will call Ruth of Malate Church to ask if we can get a copy of that. Hopefully she’ll allow us to have one.

Please pray with me na I can have a copy of the license and that TECO will give us an authenticated marriage contract and eventually a resident visa. All we want is to be together….

Bowling and blessing

One of my officemates arranged a bowling tournament last wednesday at starmall. We really had fun and everyone had a great time considering that we paid more than the games we played. This is because of the cash price for the winners of the tournament. There were 6 teams and each team has 5 members. Our team got fourth place, ang layo no! hehehe! Sayang nga eh coz during the elimination we got 3rd place and 3 points lang yung advantage nung 2nd place sa amin. We could have competed for the championship. Pero since we got a lower score we competed for 3rd place and lost (hehehe!) kaya 4th place kami. But it's ok coz we all had a great time! To my teammates, bawi tayo next time kung meron ulit! hehehe! My average, as usual 100. I wish mag improve to! :)

My sister and I got there around 2pm tapos we ate agad. Gutom eh! hehehe! I also had a great time there because I saw my cousins again and walang katapusang chikahan and kulitan! We haven't seen each other for quite sometime kaya ang saya talaga! Tapos we're happy for our cousin coz finally ok na yung unit niya! Congrats ate jing! Trip to US

Last Sept. 8, my co-worker and I went to the US on a business trip. Our company is working on a new product line that's why we had to go there to meet some company reps in Indianapolis and show them the products we have developed. Business trips aren't really fun. Actually it's very tiring but then again, I get the chance to travel without spending a cent. Kaya lang, during business trips, I only get to see 3 things: airport, hotel, and the client. Yun lang! Swerte na lang kung magkaron kami ng free time.

We stayed at Indianapolis til the 11th, and had an early morning flight the next day to Chicago for a connecting flight to LA. Now here's where things became brighter. I was allowed by my boss to stay for a couple of days in LA to meet some of Toni's relatives. Yipeeee! Toni's mom, aunt and cousin picked me up at the airport then we had lunch at...guess what...Goldilocks! Yes it's the same Goldilocks in the Philippines where they sell cakes and pastries and also traditional filipino food. Ok so it's not western food but still it was very welcome. You see, I have been working in Taiwan for a little over a year now and what I usually have here is real, authentic chinese food, which I'm not particularly very fond of. So lunch at Goldilocks was indeed a very welcome note. We had lechon kawali, kalderetang kambing, chop suey (maybe this isn't filipino food), and fried chicken. Sarap ng filipino food! Nakaka-miss talaga! After lunch, we headed for the house of Toni's cousin where I would be staying for the night. After a few hours of rest, we went to visit some of Toni's relatives who lived just nearby. What was very wonderful was that it was the first time for most of her US-based relatives and I to meet but still they welcomed me warmly. It really felt like we've known each other for a long time na.

The next day, Toni's cousin Mark, took a leave from work to show me around town. We first went to Hollywood Boulevard where I saw the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mann's Chinese Theater, and Hollywood and Highlands where I finally saw the famous Hollywood sign, though from a distance. Afer that, we went to Universal Studios. Di lang kami pumasok kasi it would take 1 whole day to tour the place but I only had 1 free day in LA kaya I wanted to squeeze in as much as I can for that day so Mark and I just went around the Universal City Walk. It had a lot of souvenir shops, restos and cinemas. Of course I bought some souvenirs from there hehehe. We then headed to Santa Monica which was about an hour's drive in the freeway. It was there where I saw the famous Santa Monica beach. It's really like the one you see in the movies where theres an amusement park in the pier. The beach was really clean and there weren't a lot of people when we were there. We even took off our shoes and waded in the water! The water was very cold by the way hehehe.

Here are some things I noticed during my trip. Food comes in BIG servings, enough maybe for 2 people. The places I have been to were very clean and there were a lot of open spaces. But then I wasn't able to go to the downtown areas so I guess it might be different there. Parking fees are expensive! Even if you had your ticket validated, you still had to pay something.

That about sums up my US trip. Mark and his wife Mawi (they were wed at Las Vegas earlier this year) will have their church wedding in December. Hopefully, Toni and I will be there also. :)

Trip to Taiwan

I had a very wonderful time during my trip to Taiwan. Not only because I went abroad but because I was able to spend time with Paul. There's nothing more I can ask for.

We went to Danshui (parang baywalk nila), Taipei 101 (the tallest bldg in the world), night market and taipei zoo (sa taipei zoo, konti lang nakita namin animals, kakapagod maglakad and hiwa-hiwalay animals nila, unlike sa singapore zoo or even dito sa manila zoo, mas ok pa!). Then we heard mass sa church don where all the churchgoers were Filipinos (pati priest ha! ok nga eh!), and after the mass, we went to Nova where we bought Paul's ipod. Medyo nahirapan pa nga kami kasi they don't have green ipod mini. It's either green na 4gb or 6gb pero hindi green. Buti na lang there's this one store na may natitira pang isang green na 6gb kaya nakabili kami. (syempre kelangan green para match sa motif. I have pink ipod na kasi eh! Arte! hehehe!). We also went to other places pero the place where I enjoyed the most is in Taipei 101 and the malls beside it. Ang bilis ng elevator to 89th floor where they have the observatory deck. It took us 37 secs only from the 5th floor (where you have to buy the ticket) to the 89th floor (yung observatory deck). Bilis di ba! Tapos from there you can view na the city. Ang ganda! They also showed their wind damper (na pina-explain ko pa kay paul kung ano ba purpose non! hehehe! malay ko ba!). Galing kakatuwa!

Pero syempre the most treasured moment ko is whenever we get home. Coz we get to talk more, hug and just be happy coz we're together! Kaya it was difficult when I need to get back na to Manila coz we'll be separated again. We just know in our hearts and minds na even if we're apart, we have that love for each other and that one day, we'll be together again. This time, it's forever! :)

Ipod Mini

Paul and I now have our ipod minis. We bought these colors because it matches our motif when we got married. (Hehehe! Pati sa ipod motif din.) I bought mine here in Manila while Paul bought his last week in Taiwan when I visited him. Here's a pic of our ipod. Paul's ipod is green while mine is pink. We now have something to while away the time during our daily commute

The Half-Blood Prince

I'm currently reading this book. Paul bought it when I arrived here so that I won't get bored when he goes to work (he also bought a lot of food to go with it! hehehe!!!). I started reading it yesterday and I'm at chapter 5 i think. Can't wait till I get to the next chapter. Heard stories about it and I can't wait till I finish reading. That's it for now, got to get back to bed and start reading again. :)

baby boom

we have newly born babies in the family and here they are:

<a href=

Meet Ethan James D. Garcia, son of my brother Eric and sis-in-law Beck. Born on May 16, 2005. Ethan is fond of talking to people. Whenever I visit him, I always see a smile on his face and whenever we don't talk to him, he makes sounds to make people notice him. Papansin ba! hehehe! Super cute ethan! He looks like his Kuya Aldus.

peter

This one naman is Peter. Peter Alain B. Morales, son of my cousin Sheila and her husband Jay. He was born on April 23, 2005. Super cute baby din. Sayang I don't get to see him often because they live in Fairview.

rhys2

Rhys Anthony Tadeo, son of Paul's sister Dimples (sis-in-law ko! hehehe!) He was born naman on May 14, 2005, two days ahead of Ethan. Gwapong baby din and like what my FIL said, mestizo! Super takaw din daw tong si Rhys.

Puro boys new born babies namin no! This last pic are the grown up kids (meron ba non! hehehe!) Taken during ethan's baptism.
