Binder

Paul had been using a binder to serve as protection for his scar and also to help his tummy to adjust after his operation. I, on the other hand, started using a binder just recently to have a slimmer tummy. I’m not sure if this is as effective as slimming wrap but I do hope it will help a little just so my bulges will be lessened. I went back to walking as a form of exercise and I do hope this too will help me lose weight.

Skin Care

I have a week to go before my doctor-prescribed vacation ends. When I go back to work, it’s going to be back to busy days for me, and this may include going out of town for some projects that may need equipment installation. I remember during an earlier project, I contracted a rash on my arms and neck. The doctor instructed me to apply moisturizer so my skin wouldn’t get dry. Well since I’m going to use moisturizers on my arms and neck, I figured I might as well look for some moisturizers for face. It felt awkward at first, but at least I know my skin wouldn’t get dry.

Christmas Gifts

There is a three-day sale on one of the malls near our place. I am thinking of going this Saturday hoping to score some good deals. Christmas is so near already that I’m beginning to worry since I have not started my Christmas shopping yet. I haven’t even listed down the names of my god children nor the names of the people whom I’d like to give something to. My mom said that I should consider giving my aunt something else because every year, it’s always money that she receives from us. She said we could buy gold to give to her, making it unique and yet very special. Not a bad idea, right?

Injectibles

I recently had my first dose of injectible when I visited my OB last Saturday. My husband has been asking me to take any measures of contraceptives for we are trying to prevent pregnancy at this point in our lives. But before he convinced me to have one, I read about its side effects comparing it to diet pills side effects that I’ve read before. There are some effects that are the same though there are also some that contrast each other. I do hope I won’t experience most of those side effects especially the weight gain!

Sad News

We recently heard news from one of our friends in the US that she was diagnosed with cancer. We don’t know yet the stage of her cancer but we are praying that it is still on the early part and can be removed through operation. But as early as now, they are getting all the help they can get to support them when they fight this. They are also considering getting assistance from Houston asbestos lawyer because they’ve heard that they provide great care and attention to those with cases like this. Our friends here are also pooling our resources to help them and of course include them in our prayers. We really hope our friend can still be cured.

Day One

I woke up at 5:00am yesterday morning to join my parents when they walk around the neighborhood as their form of exercise.  I've been complaining about my weight for the longest time but I really haven't done anything to lose weight so this is again a start for me.  I hope walking will help in burning belly fat and also those fats on my thighs and of course for me to lose weight.  My parents' schedule for walking is also a perfect time for me since my kids are still sleeping at that time and I'll be home by the time they wake up.  I hope I'll be able to do this everyday.

Nook at Buy.com

I've been thinking of giving something special to a special friend who has been there for me when I have problems.  Something's going on with her life now and I'd like to cheer her up.  I'm thinking of getting her a nook at buy.com because she's fond of reading and this e-book will certainly make her really happy.  This nook is part of the weekly deals page and they have really nice deals.  Now let's see if it will fit my budget.

Hip Recall

I was browsing the net the other day about my research on potable water since we need it for my product on business development. As I was searching, I came across hip recall cases where there were articles written on people who complained that they experienced pain and swelling after going through the surgery. They even filed a case about it and thanks to the depuy hip recall attorney they were able to get the claims they were fighting for. I haven’t heard of the same case here in my part of the world but in case you experienced the same thing before and you are in the United States, you may want to know about it more by checking on the address listed below.

Earthquake May Bring Water Diseases

After an earthquake, drinking water, other surface water, mud and silt, and open bodies of water are potential risks to health as damage to sewerage and water systems can occur. Here are tips to avoid getting sick from stomach bugs and other illnesses.

  • Boil tap water for three minutes before drinking, brushing teeth or washing and preparing food.
  • Avoid contact with sewage and assume river, sea water, or any other surface water is contaminated with sewage.
  • Use as little water as possible to flush your toiled if you have water. If not, make a temporary toiled with a bin line with two plastic bags. Cover the bin between uses. The contents can be buried later.
  • Alcohol gel is a good alternative to soap and water.

We're Going Home!

After 4 days and 3 nights at the hospital, we were finally given a go signal to go home by Paul’s surgeon. He visited us this morning and checked on Paul’s stitches and he said that everything is doing ok and Paul was recovering well that he told us we can go home provided he’ll be resting at home and he scheduled us to meet him again next Saturday. Since it’s already beyond the half day cut off, we will be going home later so he can rest more here at the hospital. I’m a bit sad today for we were not able to come to the twitter xmas party but on the other hand, I’m so glad that we will finally come home. Anyway, I realized I haven’t blogged about Paul’s operation yet, but rest assured that as soon as I find the time, I’ll blog about it. For now, I have to go for I still need to prepare our stuff.

Still at the Hospital

Paul was confined yesterday due to appendicitis and had his operation last night. He is now here in the room recovering. I'm glad with his progress today because he can sit already and this afternoon, managed to stand to transfer from the bed to the chair. His doctor said that they will evaluate how he progresses but hopefully he can be discharged by Sunday. As for the bill, we are thankful that his company has an HMO that will cover the expenses, because if not, we need to get money from our savings, which we don't want to happen. Or if we have bullion, we might need to convert it to cash to be able to pay the bill. I'll blog the details of his operation next time. :)

Visit to the Dentist

The kids and I visited our dentist a few weeks back. My ortho checked my braces and adjusted them and cleaned my teeth. As for the kids, I felt proud for both of them. For Lance, he finally sat on the chair by himself and did not even complained when I left him alone because it was my time to see my ortho. His dentist even said that he did not get scared when she used the machine to clean his teeth. As for Hannah, she did not cry anymore and sat on the chair too as long as she's on my lap. That's why I don't have a picture of her. She also allowed her dentist to clean her teeth which is a big improvement compared to the last time we were there. Hopefully when we come back in three months, she'll sit na by herself.

Deadly Mosquitoes on the Rise

Dengue fever or dengue hemorrhagic fever is a disease caused by the dengue virus transmitted by mosquitoes. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, stomach pain, and the classic dengue rash. As of August 14 this year, more than 54000 dengue cases have been recorded nationwide, and the Department of Health fears that there could be 80,000 cases by the end of 2010. The DOH also said trends have changed, and dengue is no longer a rainy season disease. Dengue cases are now expected to occur even when the rainy months June to August, are over. In previous reports, Dr. Enrique Tayag of the DOH National Epidemiology Center promoted the “DENGUE” reminders:

  • Daily monitoring of patient, if new symptoms occur
  • Encourage oral fluids or oral glucose electrolyte solution
  • Note any symptoms of dengue, such as nose-bleeding, muscle pain, vomiting, or fatigue
  • Give paracetamol, not aspirin, as aspirin can worsen the bleeding
  • Use mosquito nets or screens
  • Early medical consultation

Lottery

The lottery that will be drawn tomorrow in my part of the world has reached more than 300M already or around 7M dollars! Imagine how much money that is! No wonder almost everyone wants to win since the prize at stake is really life changing. If I will win, one of the things that I would do is of course buy our own house, a family car, ensure my children's education, travel, share some to both mine and Paul's siblings invest into stocks and also buy gold coins since it too is a form of investment. Have a business and maybe quit work. It feels good to dream! :)

Gold

I mentioned before that my parents arrived from the US last week. When we were just in the living room telling stories to one another, one of our conversations led to gold bullion and they said that US Gold Bureau is well known about it. They said that they've heard a lot of good reviews and that if you are looking for something rare, the first place to look for is them. They told me that if we have the money, we should consider buying there and make it as an investment for our children. I hope we can do that in the future.

Scrubs

As I have mentioned before, I am addicted into watching Grey’s Anatomy for a couple of weeks already. And of course as for all hospitals, doctor scrubs differ in color depending on your level in the hospital. That goes the same for the hospital where I gave birth; I just don’t remember the color of the scrub suit of those who attended to me aside from my OB. J

I also like the scrub suits of the nurses and pediatricians. Too bad the same suits are worm by nannies here in my part of the world that some of the nurses don’t want to wear anymore, but still it looks cute. I remember one of my friends who’s a nurse in another country; she looked for the nursing scrubs on sale here in my country when she went on vacation. And she’s glad with what she bought. I’m sure if she had found wholesale scrubs, she will definitely grab it and will buy more.
