Weekend

How was your weekend? Paul and I had a great time bonding with the kids. Yesterday, I went to the market for our food for the week, and then we went to the grocery. Paul accompanied my sister for she wants to install radio in her car. In the afternoon, we went to Angela’s 1st Birthday party. Today, we heard mass in the morning then went to blow up babies in gateway for Hannah’s photo session. There was a minor glitch in the schedule but was settled right away. Hannah had fun playing with the balls while we wait for our turn. When it was finally our turn, Hannah was wearing her costume and was even playing. But when it was time to have her picture taken she started crying for she doesn’t want to be left alone. We all tried to pacify her but to no avail. Then we tried to have a family picture but Lance doesn’t want to so he cried also. Now we were left with both kids crying.  Paul and I decided to reschedule our session and hopefully by next time both kids will be in the mood. After that we went home and just played with the kids. Another weekend has passed and tomorrow, we’re back to work. How about you? How’s your weekend?

Summer Outing

My cousins and I were planning a summer outing for our families. One of my cousins will be arriving from the US and they want to spend some time at the beach. We’re currently looking at the beaches in Batangas since we also plan to go to our province after our outing. All of us are looking forward to this family vacation since we haven’t seen our cousin for a long time and I’m sure the kids will all have fun at the beach. If budget permits, we would love to go to any of the Karisma Hotels. I’ve read in some reviews that having a vacation there is truly relaxing. They have great food and incredible service. The Azul Beach Hotel Resort is family friendly where parents are pampered and are even provided with strollers, cribs, milk heaters, etc. Kids will enjoy at the activity center in case they don’t want to swim at the beach. I hope sometime we get to visit the place. :)

Credit

I’m one of those guys who are often approached by people from banks and other financial institutions to avail of their credit cards. I always have a ready answer – I have no existing credit card. That’s always enough for them to back off. I have never owned a credit card in my name. I have always used cash. If I didn’t have it – I won’t buy it, because I couldn’t afford it. Some might say that’s the way it’s supposed to be in the first place. But having a credit card can be helpful for those emergency purchases – just make sure you pay on time and above the minimum amount due. I’m certain that if I they run credit checks on me, the results of their credit reports wouldn’t be so good for me. That’ll be a bane when I apply for bank loans. Maybe it’s about time I get myself a credit card. If I did, I just wish I could maintain a good credit standing.

Thank You Bounce!

Again another long overdue post.

As you all know, Lance and Hannah were supposed to celebrate their 3rd and 1st birthday party at Bounce. Unfortunately, one week before the party, we were hit by Typhoon Ondoy and Bounce was affected too. Maloy (owner of bounce) immediately texted us to ask how we are and to let us know the situation. She even offered help even if they were affected too. We were then informed that they have to reschedule our party or opt for a refund. We chose to refund our money and use it for the Jollibee party and we’re so thankful to Bounce that we were able to refund 100%.

Anyhow, a few weeks after the party, I got a call from Maloy (bounce’s owner), asking me to give her the directions to our house. I texted her but asked her also why she does she need it. She said they have something for the kids and that they’re on their way already. I was really touched with their gesture because they really don’t have to give us anything especially since we did not push through with our booking.

And so when they got to our house, they gave me their present for the kids. She also asked how we’re doing right after Ondoy and said that they really hope we recover soon. Sayang they were not able to see the kids when they dropped by because both kids are asleep already. Here’s what they gave the kids:

The following day, we sang happy birthday to the kids and asked them to blow the candle.

Thank you again Rich and Maloy!

HR Is Busy

As I mentioned before, we got the results of our annual physical exam already. Most of the employees have either high cholesterol or high sugar. And here they are now asking HR if they have programs for them so that they’ll have normal results again. HR said that they are still brainstorming on what programs to give them and advised the employees to seek for other cholesterol treatments for the mean time. I hope HR will have exciting programs that will benefit not only those who are obese but also those employees who are perfectly healthy.

Birthday Party

Another super long overdue post.

Last year, we were supposed to have a joint birthday celebration at Bounce; Lance will turn 3 while Hannah will turn 1. Unfortunately, one week before the party, typhoon Ondoy hit the Philippines and we were affected. Bounce too was badly affected by Ondoy that they had to cease operations. We were asked to choose between rescheduling the party or cancel it. We chose to cancel for we don’t know when they will resume operations. Maloy and Rich, bounce’s owners, assured us that they will return the money we deposited early on.

Anyhow, I decided to still have a party for them despite us having to spend for repairs, or buying stuff that needs to be replaced and so on. Besides, I want them to forget what we went through during the typhoon and just think about the party. And so I booked the nearest Jollibee branch in our place and asked for the nearest weekend that they can give us. Fortunately, they still have available Saturday schedule but it’s either 9-11am or 6-8pm. I chose the morning sched and asked them to reserve it for me.

The kids had a great time during the party. There were some guests who were not able to make it though because they were caught in traffic. I think there was an event at the QC circle and some of the major roads were closed. We had plenty of excess food that we gave it to the guests and the rest we took home.

Upon getting home, we realized that we still have plenty of food so Paul and I decided to give it to the street children. We went to the overpass along marcos highway and looked for street children and gave them the food. It was a good feeling having celebrated the kids’ birthday party and at the same time sharing them with the less fortunate children.

Here are some pics during the party:

Investments

My cousin and I were chatting the other day. We talked about her pregnancy and she was asking me the signs of labor. Our conversation was then led to expenses, savings and investments. I told her to expect plenty of expenses once their baby is out; from vaccines, to diapers, milk (if she won’t be breastfeeding), and a lot more. So we said that saving money and having good investments are a must. She said if only she could buy gold bullion and make it her investment, that would be perfect. She said that she saw in the net that there will be gold exchange-traded funds that will hit the Thailand market in the near future. She said that if it’s possible, she would like to invest in gold bullion if she qualifies in their rules and regulations. I was telling her that it would be a great investment and I do hope her plans will push through.

I haven’t seen the episode yet but I read the recap and it breaks my heart that Chuck and Sarah both have new love interests. I hope this new love interest won’t last long and soon they’ll be back in each other’s arms. :D

Word World

This is one of the shows that Lance watch at playhouse Disney channel. It’s one of the shows that I really like him to watch. I love their concept since children will learn spelling and will immediately know what the object looks like. Because of that, there are times that I hear Lance spell out the words he’s reading. Thank you Word World. :D

Annual Physical Exam

I mentioned before that we had our annual physical exam in the office. Yesterday, the results from the exam were given to us. I’m proud to say that my results are all within the limit. One thing though, I’m a bit overweight haha! My BMI showed that I was 0.54 overweight hehe. And because of that, I’m now looking for quick weight loss diets so that I’ll be on the normal weight again and be classified as physically fit. I hope I’ll be successful this time in losing weight. :D

What Does Your Driving Say About You?

You Are a Polite Driver
You are a creative, resourceful person. You can easily entertain yourself, and you make the best of any situation.

You are always increasing your awareness of the world around you. You are a life long learner.

You are not a fair person in the least. Justice be damned - you get whatever you can for yourself.

You are a calm, peaceful person. You realize that arguments are only temporary, and you try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

You have mixed feelings about authority figures. You understand their place, but you believe their power needs to be in check.

You are somewhat focused, but you are also a bit scatterbrained. Distractions can get you in trouble.

You are a very responsible and conscientious person. You often consider the feelings and needs of others.

Your ego is normally in check, but sometimes you get a bit egotistical. You tend to be a little self-important at times.

Fringe

I was reading something about richard willich the other night when my sister knocked on the door and asked if I want to have a copy of the winter finale episode of fringe. Of course I said yes, and when she gave it to me, I immediately watched it. The episode was so nice that I watched it again this morning. Now I can't wait for the coming episodes. Questions filled my mind like, what will Liv do now that she knows that Peter is from the other universe? Or, will Walter reveal to Liv what really happened to Peter. Arrgghh... now I'm really getting excited for the coming episodes. Too bad I need to wait for a few weeks since they are on break now.

Slacking Again

How’s everybody? I’m here in the office with tons of work on my desk and I don’t have the will to do them. Haayy.. when will this laziness end? I owe one supervisor a documented process to help his department with their work and I only accomplished ¼ of what we discussed 2 weeks ago. Arrgghhh that’s how delayed I am. I promised to send them the process the week we had the meeting and I’m not done yet. And worse, here I am blogging for I don’t feel like doing it. Haayyyy…
