Travels

If there’s something I miss about my old job, it would be the traveling. Friends and family would label me a jetsetter after learning about the places I’ve gone to. I got to see a few sites wherever we went. I remember the times when we would go from one hotel to another as there were times that we were on the road for weeks at a time. It would be really cozy to be in a Virginia bed and breakfast. Some of these places could really rival hotels when it comes to the amenities. What’s really neat about places like these is that it’s like going back in the 1800s when you see the facades of these places. But don’t worry, most of them have internet access in case you need to get in touch with the present day.

Traveling Australia

My sister loves to travel. She’s been to several countries around the world and is planning to visit more. And whenever she goes home from a trip she tells me what happened to her trip. The adventures she encountered and the places she visited. I remember her story when she visited Australia.

She talked about Melbourne and everything about it and she also talked about Hotels in Melbourne that she finds reasonable. Of course she also told me her visit to the Sydney Opera house and also climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. She did not have problems as well with accommodations there since she checked in at of the Hotels in Sydney. She hasn’t been to Brisbane yet and that’s her next target when she visits Australia again. And as early as now she’s also looking at the Hotels in Brisbane so that she can canvass already how much she’ll need for accommodations.

Traveling could really be fun. I do hope someday, I can travel with my sister and visit Australia too and of course, together with us are Paul and Lance.

Missing My Friends

I just realized that I haven't seen my friends for a long time na. I see my HS friends at least once or twice a month kasi before pero now, I can't even remember the last time I saw them. And with my college friends naman, we just see each other on special occasions. There was a time, one of my HS friends scheduled a meet up but canceled the last minute because there's only a few who can make it. I wonder how they are doing. Sometimes, we chat na lang to catch up with one another's lives pero still I prefer seeing them. I envy nga my sister kasi she has monthly dinner with her HS friends, sana kami din, or kahit once every two months. Haayy... la lang, miss ko lang sila.

I found a new favorite

As you know, I really love chocolates. May it be local such as goya, milo, the egg shaped chocolate or the one they call Piso, I eat them and of course the imported ones, hersheys, m&ms, cadburry, etc. Sometimes people at home hide the chocolate from me because I tend to finish all and they won’t have anything anymore. Thanks to my parent’s “box”, we get a regular supply of chocolates. :)

Anyway, I bought a chocolate this afternoon and it became my instant favorite. It’s Nips choco with crispies. I really like the m&m crispies and this one is the local version. The minute I tasted the chocolate, it became my favorite. Hehe! I think I’ll have additional item now in our grocery. I hope Paul will approve, it’s cheap lang naman eh! You might want to try it too! :)

Where to go?

I recently answered a survey on which Asian country should I visit. I answered several questions and upon finishing it, the result said that I should visit Cambodia. Whoa! I don’t even know where it is! Lolz! Maybe that was the result because I’m fond of visiting museums and learning the past. I’m also interested in history and knowing how are things and what do they do before. I’ll start searching now about Cambodia, who knows I might have the chance to visit it.

Coaster Furniture

As you can see from a few posts back, Lance can now stand without holding on to something. He can also walk around the house, though not on his own. And he seems to enjoy that too. So what Toni and I were discussing the other day was re-arranging the furniture to get maximum space for Lance to walk around. That means putting the sofas and cabinets all by the wall. With all the moving and the pushing, we noticed some problems with our current furniture, from torn upholstery to weak legs on the sofa prompting me to nail it together. Not that I’m complaining, but new Coaster Furniture would be nice. I especially liked their sectionals because I think it gives the most room in the center of the living room for Lance to play around.

CBU Mailboxes

I remember Toni’s cousin ranting about how her condo doesn’t have cbu mailboxes for the tenants. The mailman just hands the mail and bills to the security guard, the guard in turn, just hands the mail to the corresponding tenants. I could just imagine all those mail sitting in a cardboard box on the floor of the security post. I mean it’s just a one time cost, and you the tenants get privacy plus less work for the guards so I can’t understand why some condos and apartment buildings don’t have these.

Lance's 11th month

Today we celebrated Lance’s 11 month. I just prepared spaghetti and Paul prepared garlic bread. Good thing it’s a holiday today and we’re all here present at home. His previous monthly birthdays always fall on a weekday so even if we prepared something, we just ate it during dinner when all of us are home na from work but Lance is asleep by then. But today is different, all of us are at home and Lance joined us in celebrating his 11th month. He was sitting on his high chair and enjoying his spaghetti. He was all smiles when we were singing Happy Birthday. I hope he’ll also be in the same mood when we celebrate his birthday next month. It seems he knows that it’s his special day because he’s in a good mood. Always smiles, keeps on jumping up and down and is just jolly. I can’t wait for his 1st birthday party next month. I just hope he’ll also be that cheerful when we celebrate it.

Collections

Credit card companies often encounter problems when collecting payments from their clients. Some people miss out paying them and some even hide when the credit card companies call them for collection. I’m sure they are having a hard time. One solution they did was to hire a commercial collection agency to help them squeeze out payments from clients. Thanks to these agencies, companies are able to minimize balances from clients.

Losing Weight

I gave birth a couple of months ago and since then I haven’t gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I’ve gone exercising, play badminton once in a while and also joined the dance aerobics session at the office so as to shed off those pounds I gained before but to no avail. Yes I lost weight already but still it’s not enough to fit in my old clothes. Then I saw hydroxycut while surfing and found it interesting. I might try it one of these days and hopefully get back to my desired weight. Wish me luck!

Golf

My uncles and some of my cousins play golf. Sad to say, I don’t play the sport. I’d like to play it too but when I tried it once and joined them when they played, I found it difficult. I just don’t get the technique on how to shoot the ball in the hole. And since my cousins are golf enthusiasts, they discuss about everything on golf, the tournaments, the players and also the different golf clubs they prefer to use. I hope I’ll learn also on how to play the sport so that I can join them next time.

Updates

I haven’t had any personal updates for the past few days. I’ll just do bullet points update to make it quick.

Lance:

  • Had his check up last Tuesday and the doctor said he’s doing great. He now weighs 11kgs and is 78cms long. Yup he is overweight but the doctor said that his weight is proportion to his height so there’s nothing to worry
  • The doctor also said that his height and weight is for a 15 month old baby, and he’s only 10months. That big no! :)
  • The doctor advised us to give him iron drops because he looks pale. The doctor said this is because he grows up fast and his red blood cells can’t catch up with his growth
  • At home, he’s fond of dropping objects from his crib and sometimes gets mad when you don’t pick it up. That’s also his way of getting your attention in case you’re busy with something. Hehe!
  • He also tends to shout or cry when you take a toy away from him or when he wants to be carried and you won’t carry him.
  • He can make at least three-four steps na by himself. And he loves to practice in his crib!
  • One of the ways to pacify him when he is fussy is to bring him out of the house. Even if it’s just on the garage. Lolz!
  • That’s all I can remember now, next time na lang yung iba.

Paul:

  • Enjoying his being a dad to Lance. Close na silang dalawa. And Lance is spoiled to him. Once he hears Lance cry or at least shout, he’s there na agad and will carry Lance. (Hmp! Hehe!)
  • Still job hunting. Hoping to find one that fits his skills and interests.
  • Gained weight already since he came back from Taiwan. Hehe!

Toni:

  • As usual, I have so many things to do in the office. Was out on a training from Monday-Wednesday (yup worked even if it was a holiday L) on Lean Manufacturing
  • I’m still trying to lose weight. I still need to shed 10lbs to go back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Hayyy…
  • Looking forward na to Lance’s first birthday. Will visit divi soon! That’s about it. I’ll update you again soon! :)

More Memory Please

I am writing this now with my sister-in-law’s brand spanking new laptop. I remember the crappy old laptop I had before. It was company-issued so I had no choice. At least I had something to use. Anyway, since it was old it was so heavy that it hurts my back; you wouldn’t be able to completely boot the machine without it being plugged in to the AC socket; and it was so slow that after pressing the power button, you had to wait for about 10 minutes for it to finish loading Windows. I’d surf around for shops that sold memory for notebooks in the hopes of upgrading my poor old laptop. I did find some stores that carried a lot of parts like HP, Compaq and Dell Memory, unfortunately my boss wanted to save on cost so I had to make do with what I had. What a real bummer! Well at least I know where to find them in case I need one.

The Geologist

I was sort of a geologist way back in second grade. I remember every morning when the whole class was in the corridor waiting for the daily flag ceremony I would be at the nearby field collecting rocks that seemed interesting to a seven year old boy. What interested me the most were the rocks and pebbles that seemed out of place. I remember seeing some green colored rocks (I may have thought it was kryptonite or something), also some pebbles that had several colors. Maybe if I had some rock tumblers and polishers back then, I may have picked up interest and taken up geology. Actually even today when I’m at a field, I find myself stooping down at the ground checking out the rocks. Besides, I may be lucky enough to spot some loose change that somebody dropped.

            My Teeth

I wore braces three years ago. There were spaces between my lower teeth that’s why I had to wear braces. My braces were removed two years ago just in time for my wedding. I’m supposed to wear retainers after that but didn’t do so because it hurts. I feel like my mouth is about to crack whenever I wear them. And because of that, there are spaces again in my lower teeth. My dentist advised me to have dental implants but I’m not sure how it is done. So I checked charlotte cosmetic dentist and saw that they have that kind of service. It looks simple and hopefully it won’t hurt. I just need to ask my dentist how much it’s going to cost me. I surely hope it won’t cost that much.

            Furniture Hunting

We’re out hunting for some new furniture. We have a sofa with a tear on it (and Lance constantly tries to make the tear bigger) and a bed frame that creaks at the slightest movement. Aside from these, we would soon need new furniture for Lance to use as he is growing up real quick and bookshelves for all our books here. It’s such a shame to stow away books in basements and storage areas, don’t you think? It’s just good to know there are a lot of discount furniture stores out there.

            Reports

The sales groups here in the office often encounter problems with the accounting department. That is because there are times that the accounting department are late in providing them with financial reports. One of the reasons the accounting department gave was due to the diversity of the products in our company and that they have difficulty creating reports. And because they are particular in making accurate reports that sometimes it causes delay in the submission. Right now, they are looking into getting a financial reporting software to solve the problem. Having one will help in coming up with a unified timely and accurate financial reports. I know with this, the sales group will no longer complain to the accounting head.

Well technically, it’s really not yet goodbye because I still have it with me. Hehe! But just last weekend, I decided to sell my ipod mini. The reason is that I don’t use it anymore since I don’t go out that often naman na and I don’t also go to the gym anymore. Besides, Paul is here with us na, so I can borrow naman his Ipod. Oh well, thanks ipod for entertaining me when I travel and go to the gym and for bearing with my voice whenever I sing with you. I’ll surely miss you! (parang bf haha!)

            Lance's Andador

Paul and I bought Lance an andador (old-fashioned walker) a few weeks ago. And as soon as we placed him there, he immediately walked from one corner of the house to another. We just have to be careful and follow Lance when he walks because he might stumble and get hurt. And we now know what his favorite part of the house is... the kitchen!! He always goes there whenever he's using his andador and loves to play with the water jugs and the ref magnets. We always have to drag him back to the living room which sometimes makes him cry and shout at us because he wants to stay in the kitchen. Lolz!

            Farreys

Paul and I were thinking of changing our door knobs at home for security reasons. We’ve heard stories that robbers can get in easily inside the house because they can open the door knobs with no trouble. So I checked online to see door hardware specials to replace our current door knobs. I found good ones that I think we can use for our door. And while looking at the site, I saw that they also have water heaters available. We’re thinking of getting one too especially now that the rainy season is coming. The water coming out of the faucet is really cold that I’m sure all of us at home will be needing hot water when taking a bath.

You might be needing other stuff for your home. They have products for bath, kitchen, ceiling fan, doorwear, lighting and ventilation. So go visit
            farreys and explore their products.

                      DVD Marathon

I’ve been doing my own share of dvd series marathon also. I just finished watching season 2 of prison break (yeah I know I’m so late), and I really like it. I won’t tell you what the story is anymore for I know you’re watching it too. I can’t wait for season 3!!! And Wentworth Miller found a new fan in me! I heart you Wentworth! Lolz!

And before I started watching season 2 of prison break, I finished watching season 3 of grey’s anatomy first. It’s a good show too. It makes me appreciate the works of the surgeons, doctors and nurses. I hope I’ll be able to watch season 4 na.

Now I’m thinking if I’m going to watch Heroes too. I heard good reviews about the show and I also have a copy na of season 1 but I haven’t started watching it. If I will watch it, looks like I’ll be having sleepless nights again. Hehe!
