Lost!

This is another for my wishlist. I would like to have a GPS receiver. I have personally seen and experienced the advantage of gps systems. Our office had a receiver and used it on our way to the place where we had our company’s team building. None of us had been there before. That night, a few colleagues and I went out to buy some drinks at the nearby town. During the trip back, we missed the sign pointing to the venue. Good thing we remembered we had the GPS. We turned that thing on, and just easily followed the path leading to the venue. Thank goodness for that one.

On Hospitals...

I have an aunt who just had a bypass surgery Thursday last week and was discharged from the hospital just last Wednesday. We visited her this morning and we were so happy when we saw our aunt who by the way is on her 70s already when we saw our aunt who by the way is on her 70s already. She’s recovering very well and we really pray that she won’t have heart problems anymore.

I remember when we visited her at the hospital last Sunday when she was still at the ICU and resting on her hospital bed while chatting with us
, the doctors said that she was one of the patients who were able to recover right away. There were other patients there who are much younger than her and had the same operation but my aunt was able to recover pretty fast. Anyhow, as I was talking to my aunt when we were at the hospital, I noticed that the hospital has nice facilities and equipments and wondered where they bought those. And I thought of Allegro Medical who has been known as one of the technologically advanced online retailers in the US. And their products are really of different variety. From beds, to crutches, to wheelchairs, etc. you name it and they can provide it for you. And you won’t have difficulty checking their products online because their site is so organized.

I never found out as to where the hospital got their equipments hehe! But I’m pretty sure they have very credible suppliers. And as to my aunt, I hope and pray for a speedy recovery.

Thank You Lord

I received good news this week. First is from my sister, who was finally granted a US visa. All of us are so happy for her because she got denied a couple of times already even if she had been to a lot of countries and has a stable job. But finally, they granted her with the visa. She’s starting to plan now on the places that she’ll visit once she gets there.
Second good news is that my aunt is now recovering from the bypass surgery she had last week. She’s now at their house and we pray that she’ll be better soon.

Long Weekend

It’s holiday today on my part of the world because we’re celebrating Independence Day. I always look forward to holidays for it means I’ll be able to spend more time with my family just like today. We really don’t have plans of going anywhere, just stay home, play and bond. And while the kids are asleep, Paul and I can watch dvd movies. Haayyy… I hope everyday is a holiday!

Just-In-Case

Speaking of holidays, I’d better go advise my sis-in-law to get some travel insurance before her trip. This is one of the things you need to buy that you hope you’d never need. It’s one of those “just-in-case” things. It’s a holiday - you’re bound to go places you’ve never been, and try to do things you’ve never done. I think this would take a week or two so you’d better go get one, sis.

Finally

Finally my sister-in-law was granted a visa to visit the US. After several denials from the embassy, she finally got one. She and her cousins are already planning on where they’re going when she gets there. She’s been practically everywhere but there, so this is indeed a welcome trip for her. I would imagine more sleepless nights for her so she can carefully plan her trip. I think they’re trying to squeeze in a trip to the Outer Banks. I haven’t been there but I heard a lot of good stories about it.

Road Safety

You guys might have noticed that the news as of late has never run out of motorcycle accidents. Is it because of the deplorable road conditions in the Metro? – could be a factor. Could it be the motorists’ discipline or lack thereof? – probably. Motorcycle accidents increase naturally as the number of people who use them rise. You really can’t blame them when the fuel prices skyrocketed recently. Usually those involved in accidents would blame each other for the cause, requiring the cops and maybe some San Jose motorcycle accident attorney to sort things out. If motorists were educated in defensive driving, there may be fewer accidents on the road. The authorities should promote road safety through education.

What’s For Dinner?

I just had lunch and I’m already thinking about dinner. I can’t help it, I like eating. It really is no surprise why I weigh as much as I do. My BMI says I’m already obese, though I don’t look it – at least I’d like to think that I don’t. The 2-3 hour long commute home – thanks to the ongoing SLEX and Skyway projects - could be a factor because I’d be starving by the time I get home, so I tend to eat more than necessary during dinner. Exercise is an option, but usually I’d be too tired to lift a finger. Maybe the diet pill would be the best approach now. I tried the no-rice during dinner thing. I failed – miserably. I tried it a couple of years back when I was living alone overseas, eating only fruits for dinner. I did lose a few pounds. But it’s different now. I have a nice home-cooked meal waiting at home, which is of course best with rice.
