Money Matters for Kids

Last Friday, we went to Gateway to watch Smurfs and at the same time see BSP’s program for kids.   It is located at the activity center in Gateway where kids and adults can visit for free.  Both kids enjoyed looking at the coins from different countries and tracing the coins on a bond paper by using a crayon.  But most of all, they enjoyed the shopping activity.  They have this activity where they are teaching the kids to stick to their budget.  They are given a list of things to shop with budget and a basket cart to put the items they need to buy.  There is also a small calculator where they can check if they exceeded with the budget already.  Cute right? :)
Anyway, I’m just glad that BSP has this program to show kids the importance of money.  For now they just know that you need money to buy things that you need.  It’s good that at least little by little, they know that you need to budget your money and it is really important to save. :)

Garage Sale

We had a garage sale last week where we sold most of our slightly used clothes, kids’ toys and shoes, and some figurines that we don’t use anymore.  I had fun selling those stuff because not only was I able to clean up, I was able to earn money as well.  My angels (the kids’ nannies) also bought lots of stuff to take home to their family this Christmas.  There were still some items that we were not able to sell and my mom said we just donate them to charity.  We’re fixing them again now and hopefully we will be able to send them to charity this weekend.

Bank Transactions

I need to go to the bank today to transfer funds.  I realized that one of my bank accounts is below maintaining balance already that I need to deposit money so as not to have a deduction.  Hopefully there won’t be too much people there today especially since it’s a Friday.  I’m sure the belt stanchions in those banks will be filled with lots of people preparing for the weekend.  I’ll be going there this lunch break and hopefully I won’t stay there too long. :)

Start Them Young

When I was on leave last week for my kids’ check up, I also went to the bank to open an account for both of them. Like what other people say, it’s good to teach little kids the value of money as early as you can. So I told them that whatever money they receive we will put it in the bank. The money I used to open their account were the ones they received last Christmas. Hopefully they get to understand more the value of money no matter how young they are.

Last Pay

I was informed by the HR from my previous work that she already received the tax computation for my last pay and that she will request for the check prep already. That was Monday of last week. I was told that I can expect to receive my last pay this week so I’m hoping that it will be signed already before Friday so I can claim it. Unfortunately though, the tax is so high that it’s like a 1yr tuition fee of Lance in Ateneo. L I pray that the government will put it to good use. For now, I’m just waiting for the notice from my previous work that the check has been signed already. :)

Lottery

The lottery that will be drawn tomorrow in my part of the world has reached more than 300M already or around 7M dollars! Imagine how much money that is! No wonder almost everyone wants to win since the prize at stake is really life changing. If I will win, one of the things that I would do is of course buy our own house, a family car, ensure my children's education, travel, share some to both mine and Paul's siblings invest into stocks and also buy gold coins since it too is a form of investment. Have a business and maybe quit work. It feels good to dream! :)

No Gift Yet

My kids both celebrated their birthdays this week. My son turned 4 last Monday while my daughter turned 2 today. I still don’t have a gift for them and I have no idea what to give them. I’m thinking of giving them bullion that could served as part of their savings and since they don’t know how to spend money yet, they won’t be able to use it and by the time they need some money, its value has increased already. But then I’m also thinking if they will appreciate it since they have no idea what it is. So what I might do is to get both of them a bullion and then buy a toy that they will like. :)

Gold Coins

I’ve been reading a lot about gold coins and what are the advantages of investing on it. It says that if you are fond of collections, theses coins are one of the best things to collect. It says that the United States Gold Bureau is the best source of these rare coins and that you can even get good deals from them. I’ve been reading raves about having these coins, not only as a collection but it also serves as an investment. These coins increase its value over time so it is best to collect now so that by the time you need it, the investment might have doubled its value.
