Coffee Break ver. 1.32

Jan's topic for the coffee break:
I had a great time during High School. I belong in the top 5 of the batch and I was also part of the student council and I have extra curricular activities that I enjoy doing. I guess one of my fears at that time includes not getting good grades because it will affect my class standing. I'd like to graduate with honors because I know my parents would love that. :)

I also think about pimples, boys (but I wasn't allowed to have a bf yet), and having enough money so I can buy giordano shirts, st michael's socks, etc (lolz!) :)

I'm very thankful that Lance is not a picky eater. He'll eat whatever it is you give him. Sometimes it's even difficult especially when we were told to put him on a diet. I need to hide from him whenever I'm eating something. Paul was even telling me that Lance is better than me because he's not choosy unlike me who seldom eats veggies. hehe! I'm glad that Lance eats any veggies you give him. But his favorite food includes spaghetti, chocolates, and french fries.

eating fries after his show day

after eating chocolates

eating pansit at home

Cinderella

Last Saturday, Paul and I together with my sister, cousin and aunt watched Cinderella at the CCP. Paul had no idea what we’re going to watch. My cousin purchased the tickets when we learned that Lea will be portraying the role of Cinderella. So when we got there, Paul was asking me what we’re going to watch. When I told him that it’s a musical play he just smiled at me and told me he doesn’t like watching musicals hehe! I just told him that I love watching musicals kaya he has no choice but to go with me.

The show was really nice and very entertaining. The performers were all good and Lea as always performed so well just like when we saw her in Miss Saigon years ago. I also like the performance of the fairy-godmother, kakaaliw. I noticed lang, Prince Charming is very tall for Lea’s height tapos most of the casts are Caucasians kaya Lea looked like a small child when she’s with them hehe! Tapos medyo uncomfortable lang ako sa seat because maliit lang yung leg room so I have difficulty moving lalo na I’m on my 8th month na. Pero other than that, I had a great time.

And even Paul said he liked the show (thank God!). It’s as if daw you’re watching cartoons hehe! Pero promise, nice talaga siya and you’ll enjoy watching. It’s not naman musical all throughout eh. I think they’re running the show until Sunday so if you’re a fan or if you’re thinking of going somewhere different, go watch Cinderella. Promise you’ll have fun. :)

More on my Pregnancy

I look at my tummy in front of the mirror everyday when I prepare for work. I just enjoy seeing our baby Hannah especially when she moves to show me that she’s doing well. But when I look in the mirror, I can’t help but notice my stretch marks from my pregnancy with Lance. I still have some of those marks but I’m thankful now that with my 2nd pregnancy, I don’t have that obvious stretch marks that requires me to apply lotion or worse an acne treatment cream. I just hope that the existing stretch marks that I have now will lighten so that I can still wear a 2-pc swim suit after giving birth. That is, if I go back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Good luck to me! :)

Master Rapper

I was watching Eat Bulaga the other day and thinking of my task about mesothelioma when they announced that one of their hosts, (Master Rapper Francis M) is in ICU and is sick with leukemia. The audience was shocked when they heard the news and some of the hosts were crying when they were listening to the message from Francis that’s being read by Vic Sotto. The hosts were interviewed and almost all of them were crying but giving their support to Francis. I too got sad when I heard the news because I like Francis M. I may not be a diehard fan, but I like his patriotism and how he shares it to the public, through his songs and now through his shirt. I hope he gets well and surpass this challenge.

Coffee Break ver. 1.31

Jan asked me to join her in her coffee break. Here’s the question:
"How can our country do better in international tournaments?"
I’ve always been a sports fan. We grew up watching different sports and my parents, my aunts and uncles explained the rules of the game of whatever sports we’re watching. My dad is a shortstop in our province in baseball so we have gloves and bats and plays with my dad. My uncle loves to play tennis and we sometimes go with him when he plays. We try to watch the PBA live when we have the chance. I studied swimming and I was a volleyball player during my younger years. Basta we were brought up to be sportsminded. We may not be excellent players but we know how to play them.

Anyhow, I remember a few years ago, my sister and I often sleep late watching the games during the Olympics. And now, we try to watch the games whenever we can. It’s just so depressing that our Philippine team are having a hard time getting a medal. So in answer to Jan’s question, I believe that in any tournament, training and practice counts a lot. The Philippine Sports Commission and the government must provide enough funds for our athletes to have better trainings here or abroad. I often get sad whenever I watch tv and I see our athletes complaining that they don’t get support from the government. But the same government people rejoice with them when they win in their competition. So I think, for us to be better and be assured of at least getting into the finals, the government must fully support our athletes with all kinds of resources they can give. :)

Pregnancy Talk

I’m on my 33rd week already and people at home are starting to prepare for next month when I give birth. Lance’s nanny asked me to prepare my hospital bag so that if in case I give birth anytime soon, we’ll just pick it up and go. I already have my robe, pajamas and toiletries. I also plan to bring breast pads and right now I’m choosing between disposable diapers and maternity napkins. Which do you think is better? Anyway, I think that’s all I need. I’ll prepare them tomorrow and then next to prepare is the baby bag and I’m good to go. :)

Time for a Change?

I was just at our Makati office today to visit a client and to check some network connections. I found some CAT6 cables that would be used for the network. I have thought of using CAT6 cables for my home network but then it’s working just fine with CAT5. Yes CAT6 supports gigabit Ethernet, but that’s something I don’t have at the moment. There are other advantages of CAT6 over CAT5 but I’m not very concerned about that yet. So I’ll be sticking with my CAT5 cables for now.

I'm So Sleepy!

I'm here at work now trying my best to focus on the things that I need to accomplish today but I can't seem to do so because I'm so sleepy. I was browsing last night thinking of what to write about Outer Banks when my sister asked for my help to make a slide show for her officemate who will be retiring this month. They've prepared a party for her tomorrow and the slide show is part of their surprise. We finished at 12 midnight and she'll show it to her officemates today. My sister said there might still be some revisions so I expect to sleep late again later. It's ok though since we're doing it for one of her closest friends in the office. I hope she'll like it.

I remeber when...

...I was still in my teenage years. My concerns then were a lot different than my concerns now. I only think of myself and my responsibilities as a student and nothing more. I don't even know how to do any household chores. And when February comes (was it February?) I think of the prom night and chooses among the prom dresses displayed at the malls on which one looks best on me. Of course a nice pair of prom shoes must go with it too. But now, after a few years things are a lot different.

I hope I've matured in one way or another. First, I now know how to wash and iron our clothes. I'm learning how to cook and hopefully my husband will like whatever it is I'll cook for him. Second, I think our son and our daughter (who's scheduled to see the world next month), and our plans for their future. I also don't shop that much anymore. If ever I'll be buying something, it's probably one of those special occasion dresses that I really need. I'd rather shop for the kids than for myself. I guess that's how moms really are. They transform and embrace motherhood once they see their children.

I'm proud of my transformation from my teenage years up to present. I admit there are still a lot of things that I need to learn. But I'm doing my best to be a great wife to my husband and a wonderful mother to our children.

Things to do tomorrow

Paul and I are both on leave tomorrow for we need to do a lot of things. Let's do bullet points shall we:

  1. Go to in my womb for my 4D re-scan. I hope this time our baby Hannah won't be shy anymore and will show her face.
  2. If we're successful with the first try for re-scan, we'll go to the baby store in bel-air to check what they have there. If unsuccessful, we'll just go to the nearby malls and will come back for re-scan.
  3. We're also planning to watch a movie since it's been so long since we last saw a movie at the theater.
  4. Buy some diet supplements for Paul. :)
  5. Look for toys for Lance. Look for bikes too.
  6. Buy some baby stuff for Hannah.
That's all I can think of for now. I'll ask Paul later if I miss anything. We just hope that we'll be successful with our re-scan since it's the main reason why we're on leave. Wish us luck! :)

New Glasses

A few weeks ago, I accompanied Paul in buying a new pair of eyeglasses because the one he's using was bought 3 years ago. That was before we got married and he's been using it ever since. Before we left, I asked him if he wants to have a Lasik but he opted to wear glasses for now. So off we went to the optical shop. We chose the frame that will go well with the shape of his face and we also had his lens changed for him to see clearly. We were asked to wait for 1-2 hrs so we went to the mall first. When we came back after one hour, the glasses were ready for pick up. Paul tried it on and it was ok so he used it right away. And now, Paul is happy with his glasses that he can see even in the dark. hehe!

Traveling Again...

My boss asked me if I was available to attend a ten-day training on the latter part of October. By that time, baby #2 would have come out already and would be almost a month by then. Before baby #2 arrives, I would need to prepare all the necessary documents like travel health insurance so my papers would all be ready at least a week before the training. Let me just check what else I'd need to prepare.

Baby Talk

In just a couple of months, Baby #2 will be here. For sure she'll be getting a lot of hand-me-downs from Lance and her older cousins. But we'll be getting her some new stuff as well. There's the Bugaboo stroller that I saw that was real cool. It already comes with a bassinet and a seat. It also has a lot of options like car seat adapter, sunshades, canopy, and the tailored fabrics so you can change the seat inlays as you wish. Now if only it was inexpensive.

Air Tools

Both my dad and father-in-law have a lot of tools at home. From screw drivers of various length and sizes to wrenches, hammers, ratchets, drills and some other tools I've never heard of. But there's one type of tool that they both lack. They don't have air tools. Actually I'm new to air tools also. It's just like your regular powered hand tool but it's run by a compressor. From what I've read, these air tools - pneumatic tools as some call it - are cheaper and safer than the electric power tools. Now that gives me an idea for gifts for both of them.

Taxi Driver!!!

I was so furious at the taxi driver last night. I took a cab on my way home last night because of the heavy rains. The driver was telling me that we'll be caught in traffic so I should give additional money to him. I told him I will since the increase in fare is effective already regardless if there's traffic or not. We did not experience any traffic at all. Just slow moving vehicles due to the heavy rains. I was so surprised when I saw his meter reached P160.00 because I often take a taxi from our office to our house, and the meter would only go as much as P100.00. And to my surprise, when I was paying the driver already, he was asking for additional P50.00. So I was like, what!!! I told him I won't be paying him P210.00 since he's asking for too much. Plus the car's ac is turned off since it's raining hard. I paid the driver P170.00 and went down with both of us mad at each other. Hay naku! I understand the increase in gasoline is affecting everyone, pero naman, it shouldn't be a reason for people to take advantage di ba! Haayy....

I'm currently checking out some gadget stores for a card reader. What I'm looking out for is a multi card reader that can read various types of card storages like micro/mini/-SD cards, compact flash, MS/MS Pro, RS/-MMC. At the moment, we only use around three of those formats but it's good to know that you can read other formats just in case you'd need to.

Comfortable Shoes

I need a new pair of shoes. Being like most of the guys out there, I only have a few pairs back home. My first criteria for shoes would be comfort, and I heard that that’s where Ecco shoes excel. Some people say they’re great everyday shoes. Since I work far from home I don’t get to relax my feet til after a 2-3 hour commute, comfortable shoes would be very welcome.

I Miss My Mom

It’s now August. It’s almost been 8 years since my mom passed away. It’s just such a shame that she never met any of her four grandchildren; make that five when baby#2 arrives. If there’s something I miss about her it’s her being a neat and organized. She always planned everything, that my brother and sister and I already had our college fund when we were still in grade school, she’s even bought a burial policy for herself, thinking that we wouldn’t be caught off-guard when she passed away. That’s how organized she was. I miss my mom.
