Every Christmas, I always receive several items from different companies I interact with. It could be a ballpen, a card holder, a mug, or anything worthwhile where they can put their company name. The ones that I find really useful are umbrellas and planner for the coming year. I tend to forget the things that I need to do so I make sure that I have a planner to schedule everything that needs to be done and at the same time, write down on it notes that I need to remember. These promotional products I think are effective in advertising your company and its products. It makes people aware what your company is all about, not only the ones you interact with but those who can see the giveaways you sent as well.
